POSITION: Food Service Monitoring Assignment- PELL, TMS, RHS
LOCATION: Newport Public Schools (Pell, TMS & RHS)
REPORTS TO: School Busniess Manager and/or designee
SCHOOL YEAR: 2026/2027 (One Year Only)
Newport Public Schools seeks current district employees to conduct required on-site monitoring of the school breakfast and lunch programs during the 2026–2027 school year.
Responsibilities: Complete district training and Civil Rights training ; visit assigned schools during meal service; use RIDE’s monitoring forms to review meal counting, reimbursable meals, and other required site practices; document findings; and submit completed forms to the district’s designated administrator. Where a review identifies an issue, assist with documenting corrective action and a follow-up review in consultation with the School Business Manager.
Schedule: Monitoring must be completed by February 1, 2027, at every lunch site and at least 50% of breakfast sites. Documented follow-up reviews are required within 45 days when corrective action is needed. The district will coordinate assignments and training.
Eligibility: This assignment is open to NPS employees. RIDE specifies that monitoring must be performed by employees of the school food authority, rather than the food service management company.
3 positions available 1 @ each school/ $500 stipend for completing monitoring assignment.
