POSITION: Crossing Guard 

LOCATION: TMS

REPORTS TO: Principal or designee

 

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Required stamina, enthusiasm and the ability to communicate and work directly with students and the general public.
• Must pass state/national criminal background check and pre-employment physical on offer of employment.
• Must be dependable.
• Must have the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the job as evidenced through work-related experience and the hiring process.
• Training provided upon hire and periodic additional training and assessment will be required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist students in crossing the streets going to and from school at an assigned post.
• Direct traffic at the school crossing.
• Provide a safe crosswalk for all students.
• Enforce all district, school, and city policies and rules in the operation of the crosswalk.
• Abide by and enforce all laws dealing with pedestrian traffic at the crosswalk.
• Report all problems and safety concerns arising at the crosswalk to the immediate supervisor.
• Check in at the assigned school every morning and afternoon prior to starting shift.
• Perform related work as required.

 

EQUIPMENT: Jacket, Vest, and Stop Sign

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, walking, turning, talking, hearing, seeing and the ability to move quickly when necessary.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to weather and traffic conditions.  Interaction with students and the general public

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Ten months, approximately 1 hour/day, $25/day
